Celebrating with 250.000 people and Pope Benedict XVI

Took quite some energy and time to convince Christiane to attend the holy pope mass this sunday morning in Munichs fair grounds Riem. 250.000 people were expected, by train, on foot and for example 2700 coaches  (unimaginable). I succeded convincing her and 6 o’clock in the morning alarm-clock interrupted our sweet dreams. First 2 hours (shower, tea, 15 min car ride and 30 minute pilgrim walk to the fair grounds) were like hell on earth (Christiane has such a bad morning mood when waking up early). I condemned me for asking her to come with me and wished I would have gone alone. But unbelievably It got a wonderful day watching the Pope Benedict XVI arriving with his Papamobil, touring the fair grounds and holding a 2 hour mass. Lot of sun and it got really hot after the foggy and cold morning. Despite the 250.000 people we arrived quite quick back to the car (after another 30 minute walk) and got home in time to start for a afternoon drive to Lake Starnberg, relaxing and sun-bathing in the September sun.

Bavarian Pope back in Munich

Big emotions today when the german Pope Benecdict XVI landed at Munich airport and all church bells welcomed him when the plane landed. Watched the welcome celebration at the Munich Odeonsplatz on gigantic screen. 1 hour later the Pope himself drove by the Odeonsplatz with his Papamobil. Thousands of People waving white yellow vatican flags. Waited 2 hours to see him for two seconds …

Impressions from our sunday walk around Lake Wörthsee.

Sunday we made a small hike circling the Lake Wöhrlsee (30 km SW of Munich). Its a short Lake with 10 Km (7 miles) circumference. We walked about 2 1/2 hours. Here two fotos I made during our hike.

Deutscher Meister 2006: FC Bayern München

This saturday I was watching the last seasonal soccer match of my favourite club in the Munich Arena. It was great to see the championship party inside the new Munich Arena and the team car parade on the Leopoldstr. First Car with Oliver Kahn and Michael Ballack carrying the German Cup and the German Meisterschale. I was standing on Leopoldstr. near University U-Bahn station and the whole team passed by very slowly clapping hands with the fans. I will definetly repeat this on next championship win.

I won a 2006 Soccer World Cup ticket

Unbelievable but true. Today I got an Email from the FIFA worldcup organisation that I had won in the ticket optionee programm, where I had participated last year in November. In the meantime I had lost in both ticket lotteries and had no hope left, to see a game live in the stadium. The first time after 32 years having the soccer world cup again in Germany this was very unlucky. So much the better getting this notification right now: The good thing: Its a soccer game here in munich in the new Allianz Arena in the best price category of 100 Euro. The bad news: Its only Tunisia against Saudi Arabia. But its better than Cote d’Ivoire against Serbia Montenegro (I hope).

If somebody desperately would like to see this game:
14th June 2006
location: Munich 18.00
game #16 Tunisia – Saudi Arabia
Price Category 1 (100,- Euro)

and has tickets for some other games like Italy, Germany, Brasil, Argentinia, Spain, … (I would say everything beside Tunisia and S.A.)
I am willing to exchange.
